Dialogue at NTU ADM Portfolio

Furniture is a true cultural artefact, not, as we often imagine, a mere extension of our body. Furniture creates conversations. Conversations we unconsciously omit regularly, in the midst of rushing headlong towards futuristic ideals. Presented in a moment of confrontation, this set of furniture seeks to coexist the dichotomy between traditionalism and modernism. It stimulates a dialogue, theoretically and physically.

The modularity in design allows the furniture to function differently when stacked onto each other, serving as a light source when a lamp is placed underneath it. The use of Corian for the modern piece and metal for the traditional piece promotes a seamless outlook and represents the material commonly used during their era respectively. Extrapolating material and design representations, the construction of each piece takes on the same methods practised in both the past and present times.
