The Cloud of Unreality

Abstract or Summary of Project

As a romantic, my day dreams are clouds of illogical fantasies. Inspired by the excessive idyllicness of the Rococo period, The Cloud of Unreality draws on the floating yet immersive sensation of day dreaming as well as the varying stories that flitter in and out of our thoughts. It parallels The Roses of Heliogabalus by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema in it’s excessive decadence and its similar attempts to replace reality with dreams. With every upward step, the themes grow increasingly romantic, finally developing into an unrealistic saccharine haven. The Cloud of Unreality hence conveys a wistful ascension towards hyperrealistic fantasies that exist only in the clouds of our headspace.
