Welcome to the Appetite and Intergroup Relations (AIR) Lab!

At the Appetite and Intergroup Relations (AIR) Lab, we seek to understand the psychological and behavioral mechanisms that underlie two pressing challenges that societies face worldwide:

■ Problematic intergroup relations represented by prejudice, discrimination, intergroup conflict and rejection of diversity.
■ Epidemic rates of obesity and chronic diseases associated with unhealthy dietary behaviors, and social disparities associated with these conditions.

We seek to generate deeper insights into the causes, consequences and potential solutions to these challenges through interdisciplinary research that investigates these processes across multiple levels of analyses (culture, societal characteristics, social situations, personality and physiological and neurobiological mechanisms).

We welcome students, collaborators and stakeholders who share our vision of conducting scientific research that promotes inclusion, cooperation and resilience against maladaptive behaviors in a diversifying and uncertain world.
