Introduction

First off,

ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS…

  1. Have you ever ‘dropped’ your unwanted receipts, flyers, tissues or even cigarette butts intentionally on the ground?
  2. Have you ever felt lazy to pick up the tissue or any small waste which was blown away to a distance by the wind?
  3. What about seeing litter on the ground but walking away from it, as though you did not see it?

I suppose many would say no to the first 2 situations (I hope) but we are probably guilty of committing the third situation. And yes, not picking up the litter even though it was not thrown by you is also considered as littering.

Littering is one behaviour that is overlooked by many Singaporeans as we are either used to seeing litter around or we are just not aware of the significance in which even the smallest waste can result in the environment.

This blog will try to help readers better understand the littering situation in Singapore, the effects of littering to both humans and the environment, as well as some possible improvements to the current strategies to further reduce the littering problem in Singapore.
