Professor Wangari Maathai, Nobel Prize Laureate, devoted half of her life to environmental conservation, fighting for democracy, human rights and women’s rights.

What started as a woman’s tree planting journey to provide women a sustainable income and restore their damaged land through planting of trees eventually became a fight for environment, democracy, peace and human rights in her homeland.
