Indonesia’s Foreign Minister’s Comment on Forest Fires Issue
Dr. Marty Natalegawa, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister came to NTU on the 7th March 2012 to give a talk about Indonesia’s foreign policy.
I asked him about forest fires issue.
His answer was: “We recognize that problem and we are working hard to try to solve the problem. But one has to recognize that it isn’t just a problem of some farmers burning the forest to clear the land. It’s more complicated than that. There are many players. All of us has a piece of responsibility as consumers of goods planted in the lands. It (the solution) is a long term process.”
