Environmental Disturbance

Introduced originally as a biological control for rhino beetles in oil palm plantations in Malaysia, house crows have spread rapidly throughout the region and into urban and human settlements. House crows can displace native bird species through its competition for food sources and is also capable of transmitting diseases, negatively affecting human health. Its food scavenging behavior has also caused many nuisances to humans by scavenging for food and taking away shiny items such as jewelleries from human settlements.
