While the Singapore government has lain out their plans to meet the needs of an increased population, they are also aware of the need to continue maintaining Singapore as a ‘City in a Garden’. As such, there are attempts to achieve their proposed plans in ways that would help to sustain and conserve the Singapore environment.

Two of the proposed plans are:

  • Housing
    – Build eco-towns[1]
    – Build more environmentally-friendly buildings, with features such as attractive green roofs and communal sky terraces
  • Build more parks and green spaces, with improved park accessibility
    – At least 85% of the household will live within 400m of a park by 2030
