Effects

The harmful effects of forest fires are vast and serious. These uncontrollable forest fires not only harm the wildlife, economy, health of people of locals and neighboring countries but it can also affect the global climate. Additionally these damages and loss to the biodiversity is very hard to replace. It may take a very long time and sometimes it is not possible to recover these losses.

Also the issue of forest fires is no longer country specific but rather it is a transboundary problem. The haze produced by the fires will not be confined in the atmosphere of Indonesia but they will be carried to neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore by the wind. Singapore can be considered as a “victim state” in the problems of forest fires and we will look at some of the specific effects of Indonesia Forest Fires on Singapore.
