DiCaprio has worked on a number of short films over the years, including Water Planet and Global Warming. He produced the film with Tree Media Group founders, and sisters, Leila Conners peterson and Nadia Conners.
More recently, DiCaprio has been narrating for a series of short films which explores the issues and solutions related to the climate crisis. The series is directed by Leila Conners and presented by Thom Hartmann. It is produced by Matthew Schmid and executively produced by George DiCaprio, Earl Katz and Roee Sharon Peled.
The series is made up of 4 films:
Epsiode 1 – Carbon
This first episode introduces the issue of climate change and identifies the root cause of it – the burning of fossil fuels that releases carbon into the atmosphere. The video also proposes a solution to prevent the castastrophic warming of the planet, and that is to put a price on carbon pollution.
Episode 2 – Last Hours
The second episode looks at what runaway climate change would look like if a tipping point is reached that is triggered by massive releases of frozen methane.
Episode 3 – Green World Rising
The third episode shows how we can start to move away from fossil fuels and be using 100% renewable energy instead.
Episode 4 – Restoration
The last episode of the series is not out yet, but it will discuss how the Earth’s natural ecosystems deal with climate change and we, too, can deal with it by working with nature.
