Better Waste Management

Since manure wastes are often poorly handled, with its consequences being quite unhealthy not only for the environment, but for humans, regulations for better waste management should be implemented, or at least maintained. While not eating the meat that causes these problems may be a good solution if done by a large portion of the population, advocating government regulations and encouraging sustainable uses of animal waste can instead prove to be a more efficient solution.

There are several waste management solutions out there, one of which prevents harmful methane from reaching the atmosphere. This can be done by converting cow manure into renewable electricity, vehicle fuel (bio-methane), and natural gases that can be injected into pipelines for uses such as heating (United States Environmental Agency, 2011).
This is made possible by storing the manure, transforming the methane into bio gas, and refining it into bio-methane, or combusted into electricity. The remaining solid matter can be used for soil and natural fertilizer (United States Environmental Agency, 2011).
