Seminars (CEE)

“African women in general need to know that it’s OK for them to be the way they are – to see the way they are as a strength, and to be liberated from fear and from silence.”
– Professor Wangari Maathai (BrainyQuote, 2014)

Community Empowerment and Education (CEE)

A 3-4 days seminar examining the issues of:

1. Needs of the community
2. Rights and responsibility
3. Links between then environment and poverty
4. Management of resources

This seminar motivates the locals to understand why they lack the power to change their environment and further help them in providing resources for them to create a tree nursery group. They would also learn what actions they can do to preserve their environment and resources. Lastly, should the rights of the community be violated, they are urged to take leadership and speak up so as to not suffer without anyone’s knowledge.

There is 3 major objectives the CEE aims to achieve:
1. To equip communities with the necessary tools and skills to mobilise their community to form active tree nursery groups to grow and plant tree seedlings,
2. To instill awareness of what good governance and environmental protection look like at local, regional and national levels,
3. To mobilise community leadership for environmental protection, and public recognition of compliance with laws to prevent violations of human and environmental rights.
