Activity

The banded leaf monkey is adapted strictly to an arboreal lifestyle. These diurnal forest dwellers are generally shy in nature of which they hardly come to the ground. Gregarious in nature, they tend to travel in troops of 5 to 8 individuals. While travelling, they like to leap from trees to trees, and move through the forest quadrupedally.

EcogolyasiaMoreover, it is highly sensitive to disturbance. In presence of humans or any threats, males tend to alert their troupe with a loud repetitive “machine gun” call before drawing away from predator to hidden and quieter areas. In an attempt to avoid human attention, they would shield themselves using branches and leaves.

This animal spend most of their time resting. They cuddle to sleep. As they cannot see very well in the dark, finding a good spot is a crucial task for them to avoid predators such as snakes. (Image taken from http://www.ecologyasia.com/verts/mammals/banded-leaf-monkey.htm)
