Engineering Village enhanced with auto-suggest terms from Ei thesaurus

Ei auto-suggest enhancement

This new Engineering Village enhancement adds value to the advantages of auto-suggested terms by drawing these terms from the 20,000 controlled term list in Ei thesaurus. “Finding search terms can be difficult especially for novice users” so this gives Ei’s quick search a more Google-like experience when compared to using Thesaurus Search. At the same time using auto-suggested terms from the Ei thesaurus ensures more efficient and precise retrieval of relevant content. This librarian’s tip after test driving the new feature – key in your terms more slowly than you would normally so the suggested terms have time to populate the drop down box. We tend to type fast but this feature works better if you type s l o w l y.

More details about this and other recent database enhancements at this link: http://www.ei.org.ezlibproxy1.ntu.edu.sg/releases. There is a video link for the auto-suggest feature here but it seems unneccessary since the search experience is quite intuitive – just remember to type s l o w l y.
