Dr Lai Kui Fang, a Singaporean oil figure painter and sculptor, will share his knowledge on Chinaware, especially his experiences and achievements from the field studies of kiln ruins in Henan, China.

Outline of the talk

  1. A retrospection of the evaluation of Chinese ceramics before the Song Dynasty
  2. The 5 famous kilns of the Song Dynasty: Ru, Guan, Ge, Ding, Jun
  3. The identifications of the well-known wares of the Song Dynasty
  4. The influences of the porcelains of the Song Dynasty in the later ages

About 40 pieces of Dr Lai’s personal ceramic collection will be displayed at NTU Chinese Library on 27 Oct. Come to view and appreciate the elegance and beauty of the Chinaware from the Song Dynasty.

As a world-renowned artist, Dr Lai has shown special interest and unique insight on Chinaware, he has been collecting and studying on China porcelains for more than 50 years.  He was appointed as Guest Researcher of Huaxia Song Ceramics Research Institution of Zhengzhou city of Henan, China.
