Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson on UFOs

Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about what he really thinks about UFOs. Not to be taken too seriously of course but he does make some good points on thinking about believing in them.

If you’re interested to read more about UFOs, NTU Library does have some books regarding the topic of UFOs:

A World of UFOs

Flying saucers and science : a scientist investigates the mysteries of UFOs : interstellar travel, crashes, and government cover-ups

Sean Carroll video trilogy on Sixty Symbols

Sixty Symbols is a video website that aims to produce videos by experts to talk about the different symbols used in Physics and Astronomy. They originally aimed for 60 symbols but have since already exceeded the original number and are going for 2nd batch of 60 symbols.

For this post, I’ve selected a trilogy of videos on three topics by Sean Carroll, a physicist at Caltech who works on cosmology, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics and complexity.

1. Quantum Mechanics

2. Higgs Boson

3. Arrow of Time

The Character of Physical Law

In 1964, the physicist Richard Feynman gave a series of lectures at Cornell called The Character of Physical Law. The first lecture was on the law of gravitation and you can view it here:

Part 1

Part 2

As always, the lecture video shows Feynman’s flair for teaching the concepts of physics, and you’re highly encouraged to view the rest of the series as well.

The text of this series was also compiled by the BBC into a book with the same name, and if you’re interested to borrow it, you can look for it here.
