Professor Ernst discovered the beauty of Tibetan painting by accident, in 1968. Reflecting his longstanding interest in Thangka painting, he will share his unique insights and his personal fascination with these scroll paintings, revealing another cultural world. This visual journey will express religious beliefs, philosophical principles, and historical facts. In his lecture, Professor Ernst will also cover the numerous scientific aspects that are involved in the study, conservation and restoration of the delicate Thangka paintings.
