Oct 2nd, 2008 | By Balbindar Dhaliwal | Category: Accounting, Banking & FinanceHere’s a round up of resources:
The Joint Center for Housing Studies, Harvard University, published The state of the nation’s housing 2008 that provides statistics on the housing industry in the US, demographic data and issues facing the industry.
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis provided a background paper on The Evolution of the subprime mortgage market that discusses subprime lending and how the market has evolved.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York provides Dynamic maps of nonprime mortgage conditions in the United States. You can look into the subprime mortgages by state, foreclosures and delinquencies.
Home Mortgage Disclosure Act provides aggregate reports that are searchable by state if you are looking for annual mortgage data and disclosure reports if you want to search the level of mortgage that a financial institution is providing.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation provides banking statistics from 1934 onwards. Bank failure reports are also available.
The Mortgage Bankers Association provides outlooks and forecasts on the industry.
On a different note, if you have the money and the will to buy property in the US, you would like to visit REOTrans.com that lets you search for foreclosed properties. Registration is free and you can search by state or city.
And if you need more information, watch Bird and Fortune discuss the crisis.
