Prior to joining NTU Library, I had been teaching English Language and Literature and Communication for several years, including 2 years at a private university in the countryside of Japan, in Niigata (home of the Albirex Niigata Football Club). I enjoy reading (surprise!), sports (spectator) and outdoor pursuits (hiking and scuba diving).

  1. Customers and IPs belong to a company that you work. When you resigned, you can’t take along with you. However, in some business it’s hard to prevent it from happening.

    1) Customers – some staff have built a very good relationship with the customers . This is very apparent in sales industry like insurance and wealth management. Some of them become friends through years of trusted relationship. If the staff leave a company, the customers will follow the staff because of the trust. It is not that the ex-staff is ’stealing’ the customers away. But in some cases, the customers will jump-ship to follow the ex-staff.

    2) IPs – in some environment, especially teaching , education and some skill set, the IPs are easily duplicated from the person’s knowledge. A teacher/trainer can easily replicate his/her ideas by introduing some variation in the presentation/contents.
