Yu’s peom –Xiangchou–was the most famous contemporary one considering the nostalgia.
It was taught in the textbook when I was a was a middle school student in mainland,China.
The surface meaning is easy to follow and it is even easy to recite it.
As I’m growing up with the time passing, I feel deeper feeling in it.
And sometimes tears swell in my eyes when I read the lines considering my late grandpa.
Once I saw a TV program, Yu himself read this poem, and the atmosphere was becoming unspeakable
after his reading. And I think it is the charm of the poem, as well as of himself.
Now I am in NIE of NTU for a year’s study. I typically depend on stamps to post my love to family members,
which cannot not be conveyed through the keybord or computer screen, which is cold and dull.
But now I won’t shed tears when reading the lines, because my nostalgia is filled with the best wishes
and the fine hopes from them.
I feel the great courage and confidence to further my study with the love from them and from my miss to them.

Although I do not know you, I can fully understand your feeling.
Being away from home, your family members and your loved one is really hard for anyone to bear, especially when you are alone in a place where you have never visited before.
I have the same homesick like yours. Although my home is just few hundred KM away.
Don’t worry. Time flies. 365 days go very quickly. very soon you will see your family members again.
