Indeed Singapore, a nation of multiculturalism, is a gem to behold and has a lot to offer for both the locals and foreign visitors.

Shipwreck Exhibition

There’s a Shipwreck Archaeology exhibition currently running at Lee Wee Nam Library.

Curated by Dr Goh Geok Yian (History Group, HSS), the exhibition introduces you to the Belitung (Batu Hitam) Wreck, by far the most important shipwreck found in Southeast Asian waters, and its surrounding controversy, the Intan and Cirebon Wrecks, both dating to the 10th century, the Java Sea Wreck, and a few others.

Real artifacts from shipwrecks are also on display!

So, do drop by Lee Wee Nam Library to learn more about what shipwrecks can tell us.

International Conference on Pan Shou – A Centennial Commemoration (潘受先生百年纪念研讨会暨展览)

To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of Mr Pan Shou, NTU’s Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) and College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences (CoHASS) will be jointly organising an international conference cum exhibition on 31 March 2012.

Mr Pan is regarded as the best calligrapher and Chinese poet in Singapore. He was also the founding secretary-general of the Nanyang University. He has made outstanding contributions to Singapore’s cultural and education landscape and is highly commended and respected by the government and people of Singapore.

Thou Shall Not Steal – Plagiarism & Academic Writing

Title: Thou Shall Not Steal – Plagiarism & Academic Writing Exhibition

To create an awareness of plagiarism among the NTU community, NTU Library has put together an exhibition highlighting what constitutes plagiarism and how to avoid plagiarising.

In conjunction with the exhibition, there is an online quiz for visitors to take part in. In addition, there is also a resource list covering topics such as academic writing, citation and how to avoid plagiarism for visitors to explore further.

‘Digital Spaces @ NTU Libraries’ Exhibition

Over the years, the digital landscape has transformed immensely. In Singapore, social networking has a total audience of 2.7 million, representing 94.3% of the total online population*.

Clearly, with the advancement and increased adoption of mobile devices, mobile applications and relevant systems such as QR Codes offer users with better capabilities to access information and interact with each other socially in the digital environment.

What exactly are these platforms? How do they start? How do NTU Libraries leverage on them? This exhibition shares how NTU Libraries have leveraged on key digital content platforms and systems, i.e. QR Codes, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and WordPress, to stay connected and relevant to users. Background information for each of the platform is also provided.
