Title: Chinatowns in a Globalising Southeast Asia Exhibition
Date: 21 Aug to 18 Sep 09
Venue: Lee Wee Nam Library
Chinatowns are an inalienable part of the ethnic Chinese identity in Southeast Asia. Far from being merely clusters of buildings and shops with Chinese architectural styles and/or motifs, Chinatown in Southeast Asia has a human facet that tell the stories of their dwellers and visitors. This exhibition attempts to tell these stories through the highly accessible medium of photography and aims to capture the sights of the human side of Chinatown in Southeast Asia in face of the ever-increasing rate of globalisation.
This exhibition is jointly organised by the Chinese Heritage Centre and Huayinet and showcases 50 (A2 size) photographs. Feel free to drop by Lee Wee Nam Library to have a look at these photographs.
