JSTOR is a multi-disciplinary database which could be used to complement access to backfiles of Science journals. An example is provided here for illustration.

Rich, K., et al., Cell-Adhesive Motif in Region II of Malarial Circumsporozoite Protein. Science, 1990. 249(4976): p. 1574-1577.

You will not be able to access the article via Science website (even after using proxy bookmarklet). The article could however be accessed via “Databases” >> J >> JSTOR >>perform a title search.

If you check the holdings records from “Titles A-Z”, you will be prompted to access Science backfiles (1880-2003) via JSTOR.
