MIT to Publish Faculty Articles Free in Online Repository

MIT’s faculty have approved a resolution that allows MIT to distribute their research papers via the institution’s online repository.

The open access resolution hopes to address two problems with publishing in scientific journals:
1. faculty members are forced to give up rights to their own articles
2. publishers charge exorbitant subscription fees to MIT for access to these articles.
