The University of Nottingham has created a collection of videos on sixty symbols (or concepts) commonly used in physics and astronomy. The project is known as Sixty Symbols.  The videos are not lectures, they are chats with the experts from the university . It also promises to have another sixty symbols coming soon.

“Stars & Constellations” Exhibition is on, at Lee Wee Nam Library (Level 3) from 16 – 27 March 2009.

This exhibition is put together by NTU Library & NTU Astronomical Society. Posters done by the members of the Astronomical Society are on display. Books on Astronomy are on display for your selection and reading. If you are interested to know about astronomy, stars, constellations, telescopes and more, do come by Lee Wee Nam Library.

Year 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy.

Many countries in the world are celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). IYA2009 is to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s use of a telescope to study the night sky (ref http://www.astronomy2009.co.uk). 

“The aim of the Year is to stimulate worldwide interest, especially among young people, in astronomy and science under the central theme The Universe, Yours to Discover.” (ref http://www.iau.org/public_press/iya/).
