Arts From The Heart (AFTH) sets out to accomplish two things – helping the less fortunate while promoting the arts.
This year’s event, which took place at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park on 12 June 2016, comprised of a fun run, a carnival and an array of exciting performances. In addition to all carnival ticket sale proceeds going towards charity, every kilometre completed by participants in the fun run was dollar-matched by a generous sponsor. Despite the slightly grey skies and slight drizzle, a total of 3,715.2 km was clocked! Funds raised this year went towards Children’s Aid Society (Melrose Home), which acts as a “home away from home” for teenagers and children who need care and protection or are under special circumstances.
Aside from the main event, the committee also planned an outing to the S.E.A. Aquarium for the Home, as well as arts and crafts sessions where volunteers taught the the art of making pop-up cards. AFTH hopes to provide a platform for students to use their talent in the arts to bring colour and joy into the lives of others.
It is very heartwarming to see everyone working together for the same cause. Our efforts may be small but it will impact someone else’s life.

About NTU Cultural Activities Club
NTU CAC is one of the four largest student organisations in NTU and was set up to nurture the artistic talents of NTU and promote a vibrant campus with performing arts and cultural activities. It has attained considerable popularity and recognition from the public as a staunch advocate of the performing arts.
Established since 2004, AFTH is the charity arm of the NTU CAC. The vision is to help the less fortunate in the society by involving all 22 member clubs and integrating each member club’s specialisation to put up an extravagant performance. Through this, AFTH hope that the arts will not only be viewed as not only a platform for aesthetics and entertainment but also to help the less fortunate. They also hope to reach out to the general public to increase awareness about selected beneficiaries and fundraise for them.
