Michael J K Walsh

Michael J. K. Walsh conducted his graduate studies at the Universities of Cambridge, St. Andrews and York and was then, for nine years, employed at Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. In this time he successfully nominated the historic city of Famagusta for inclusion in the World Monuments Fund Watch List and also acted as team coordinator for the United Nations project ‘Cultural Heritage Data Collection in the northern part of Cyprus’. He has published nine books including: Medieval and Renaissance Famagusta (Ashgate), This Cult of Violence (Yale University Press) and London, Modernism and 1914 (Cambridge University Press). His current research continues to explore the relationship between culture and conflict, with a particular focus on music and musicians. Michael is Associate Professor of Art History and Associate Chair (Research) in the School of Art, Design and Media, at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
