The Breadth of Silence is an ongoing sequence of inquiry into illnesses that are hiding in plain view.
I was first diagnosed with UCTD in 2007. Dealing with an ambiguous diagnosis has caused me unnecessary medical procedures and has demanded me to make constant shifts and sacrifices in the way that I live. Propelled by this circumstance, I begun my work in exploring how visual narratives can highlight the collective sense of displacement and amplify the voices of individuals afflicted with conditions similar to mine.
Autoimmune disease is an invisible target – The cause, symptoms and side effects remains unclear but the heaviness of having to live with it is certain.
