Lucas Mathieu F.V. Jodogne

Lucas Jodogne, graduated from the Royal Academy of the Arts (KASK) in Ghent, Belgium, division Art Photography and Cinematography. He was immediately asked as an assistant professor at the academy for Photography, he stayed on board for three years. Subsequently he pursued further his photography career and developed his film skills at the same time working on film sets in different capacities. In 2008 he decided to add a master title to his name and became master in the Fine arts at the La Salle school.

Jodogne, over the course of 25 years, shot more than 160 films including commercials, corporate videos, art movies, short feature fiction films, and several long feature fiction films as a director of Photography. In all these categories his films were represented in the shortlists and competitions of the leading film festivals and many of his films have received top awards in their respective category.Besides being an

Besides being an award winning cinematographer he also developed his art as a photographer. Since his first solo exhibition in 1984 he has shown his work all over the world in galleries and museums. He has been awarded with support from SPES for his series “In the node”. His work has been acquired by important collections including the National Art Museum and SAM in Singapore.Several publications are on his name, notably “Bodiless dragon”, 1998: Pandora, the subject focuses on the urban landscape of Singapore.In 1994, he went to Singapore where he started to work with young directors, such as Sandi Tan, Kelvin Tong and Yasmine Ng. The resulting short feature film “moveable feast” won the first price at the Singapore Film Festival. Since then he has been working both in Europe and in Asia on several films as a cinematographer and has become a very sought after director of photography in Asia.

Over the years, he’s been active in developing-sometimes-pioneering – workshops for film professionals in such fields as digital cinematography, film studies and lighting. He was invited in 2006 as a visiting lecturer at the Puttman School of film at the integrated arts campus at LASALLE, college of the arts, where he taught cinematography in Graduate Programmes. The same year Art, Design and Media (NTU) asked him to become a part time assistant professor of the courses: Cinematography, 16 mm and advanced 16 mm.

He has been also been invited as graduation jury member of other film schools (RITS) and has conducted master workshop in films schools in Europe and Asia (RITS-SAE-La Salle-NTU). Apart being a film academic, cinematographer, photographer and artist Jodogne has also served as a researcher on urban landscapes. In the field of research and innovation, he just finalised a photographic research on reclaimed land.
