Limbo

Limbo is Quinn’s reaction to the exceedingly fast paced Singapore society, where change is the only constant and people are liken to machines. Limbo serves as a light reminder to give oneself the required space and time to drift and wander into one’s imagination, away from the noise and clutter of the highly dense city. The artist hopes that his people will not be blinded by the pursuit for progress in exchange for one’s dreams and senses.

Flying Whales

Dreams are made of impossible stuff and whatever catches your fancy. At first glance, it is reminiscent of something. Yet, after a little observation, there is something not quite right. It toys with our perception, questioning our initial judgement. The artwork above is made up of parts from whales, clouds, waves, fireflies, and your imagination.

The Cloud of Unreality

As a romantic, my day dreams are clouds of illogical fantasies. Inspired by the excessive idyllicness of the Rococo period, The Cloud of Unreality draws on the floating yet immersive sensation of day dreaming as well as the varying stories that flitter in and out of our thoughts. It parallels The Roses of Heliogabalus by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema in it’s excessive decadence and its similar attempts to replace reality with dreams. With every upward step, the themes grow increasingly romantic, finally developing into an unrealistic saccharine haven. The Cloud of Unreality hence conveys a wistful ascension towards hyperrealistic fantasies that exist only in the clouds of our headspace.

Much Like Rust

If you find your eyes lingering on these textures long enough, perhaps you will slip into a daydream, of looking but not thinking. Or perhaps, you are thinking, but you are unsure about what you are thinking of.

I don’t remember my dreams. Day or night, they just happen. I know they happen, but I don’t know them. Much like the way things rust – organically, unpredictably through a passage of time and space. Some times beautiful, other times a horrific mess.

These are natural reactions. Things rust, and we dream anyway.

The Shattered Dreams

A dream is bits and pieces of visual images that comes together to form stories and experiences. The stories that created in our mind are amazing and strange when we
look into the shattered dreams as our imagination wanders off to another world without being aware of it.
