Trapezoid Tray (2005)

Chalit Kongsuwan

Description

This tray is inspired by the opposite tapers of vernacular Thai house and dovetail joint. The reverse identical trapezoids suggest visual illusion and movement. Wooden beads are incorporated to subdue rigid corners and to stabilise structure.

Because of reversible functions, the plain side offers utility whereas another side (with Tasmanian landscape drawing at Port Arthur) is for decoration and reminiscence.
