Oh Soon-Hwa

Description

A narrative landscape photo series, Quiet Dream, focuses on social and economic tensions generated by “marriage” expatriation where “young South Asian women” seeks to marry foreigners in quest of a better life and to support their family left behind in their home country. The project aims at exploring the environment of these young women, what they intend to leave behind, which includes, the landscapes, their family, their friends, in other words, people and places with which they have grown up and which form part of their identity. What is left behind is the known and where they head constitutes the unknown, places where everything will be different, from the climate and landscapes to the language, culture, and people.
