Listen to rock, guess the guitar face… For science!

The global phenomenon known as “Guitar Face” describes how guitarists from around the globe contort their faces in line with the tunes that they play. We are investigating the relationship between the tunes guitarists play and the expressions they pull at key points in their performance.

We have snapped two guitarfaces from a bunch of mad-cool guitar solos. We want you to guess which face comes from which moment. The whole thing should take around 20 minutes. At the end of the quiz, it will help us understand your answers if you fill in some information about yourself, your language use and music background at the end of the study.

This quiz has been developed by Joel Lim Defeng, a student at NTU, working under the supervision of Asst Prof Suzy Styles. More information about the study is also available once you decide to take part.
