Plastics are typically macromolecules derived from petrochemical, consisting of repeating monomer units bonded together. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is used in the production of corrosion-resistant piping, plastics bottles and containers because of its high strength-to-density ratio. However, it is not readily degradable.
