Group 18 Video 1 – Antacids (Implications on Society)


An antacid is a substance which neutralizes stomach acidity, which in turn relieves heartburn, indigestion or stomach upset. Side effects of antacid are diarrhea, constipation and belching due to magnesium and aluminium ions found in antacid. Antacids have both desirable and undesirable consequences such as fast relieve of gastric discomfort or over-dosage would lead to hypercalcemia.
