Radicals are uncharged species which contains one or more unpaired electrons. Chloro-radicals from CFCs, contributes to ozone destruction. When CFC’s come into contact with high energy photons, their individual components are freed from the whole. Chlorine initiates the breakdown of ozone and combines with a freed oxygen to create two oxygen molecules.
