Experimentation II & III

After the first round of experimentation, I decided to move on to the second and third, adding in drips of fabric paint in attempt to intensify the colours. It turned out really well!

I specially love how the Royal Blue fabric paint adds more dimension to the pieces and the spreading areas of dye and paint remind me so much of trees in the forest. Next up, experimentation III:

Using only fabric paint:

Turquoise and Royal Blue.

This time round, I decided to try stippling method instead of dripping. After stippling with a brush, I dripped water to see if it will have a more obvious smudge/blending effect.

However, it did not blend in well, and using the fabric paint itself made the fabric much stiffer than I would like it to be.

Mixing all of them:

Mixing the fabric paints with dye made the result a lot more unpredictable. The different density of dye and paint result in different settling speed, creating a more interesting effect.

This is the final experimentation, which is also the texture I chose for my illustration design. (However, when it comes to the actual dyeing of fabric for my final, things turned put a little unexpected…)
