I hand-stitched the feathers onto the fan piece of fabric to tack them into place. I also stitched three wooden rods into the fabric to keep its structure.
I put my garments on the mannequin to test how my ideas would look…
Wondering if adding an extra layer of fabric would make the white garments more interesting?
Symmetrical look?
This is the same fabric as the fan and so it might be effective to use it on these garments for some consistency.
I imagine the feather fan will attach on the hip, attached to the motor on a belt.
So next I tried to imagine how to best decorate the top.
Perhaps to continue the flow of feathers?
I like the subtlety of this but it might not match the fan so much?
I think the blue fabric on the top is effective for making the two pieces match.
I like how this one makes the feathers look like they are coming around in full circle.
