SMOCKING
Smocking requires lightweight fabric with a stable weave that gathers well. It is worked on a crewel embroidery needle in cotton or silk thread and normally requires 3 times the width of the initial material as the finished item will have
MATERIALS:
A piece of cloth
Thread
Needles
Smocking template
Fabric chalk
METHOD:
1. select a design of smocking and draw the lines on the cloth
2. Stitch the ends of the lines together and secure them with knots
3. Continue and repeat patterns for the entire piece of fabric
SEWING WITH ELASTIC
This techinique requires elastic thread to be stretched out and sewn into fabric. It is usually used to make stretchable clothings.
MATERIALS:
A piece of cloth
Elastic Thread
Normal Thread
Sewing machine
METHOD:
1. Stretch out the elastic thread and wind them onto the bobbin
2. Using elastic thread in the bobbin and normal thread, sew the fabric using the sewing machine
3. Realease fabric from machine and see the patterns created by the elasticity of the thread
