FIELD TRIP REFLECTIONS

  1. TOUCH & PRINT COMPANY
For the first class field trip, we visited Touch & Print Company. It is a print company which started off with heat transfer business. They offer a wide range of printing services like printing on T-shirts, apparels, mugs, metal and wood.
From this field trip, we learnt the basic printing differences between CMYK, RGB and pantone colours as well as the difference between laser print, inkject and offset printing. We were exposed to various types of prints onto a surface using transfer paper.
It has taught me a lot on the possibilities to create interesting textures on different surfaces and how design and printing can work together to produce a good quality product.

2. STPI Field Trip

STPI is a dynamic creative workshop and contemporary art gallery based in Singapore. Established in 2002, STPI is a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting artistic experimentation in the mediums of print and paper and has become one of the most cutting-edge destinations for contemporary art in Asia. STPI sits alongside National Gallery Singapore and the Singapore Art Museum as part of the national Visual Arts Cluster of leading institutions in the region.
From this field trip, I really liked how Aaron has become who he is today through his perseverance and how he is always so exposed to many different genres of media and culture which influences his inspiration from his works. It shows me that having exposure is very important and it is also essential for us to try out different techniques in our work to further push ourselves off our limits although it may not be what we are comfortable to doing.
