WHAT IS THE TECHNIQUE?
The techniques that was shown was both dry and wet transfer. For wet transfer, both direct and indirect printing. We tried dry and wet transfer (direct printing) on our own. Wet indirect transfer was demonstrated to us in class.
WHAT ARE THE RELEVANT MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE TECHNIQUE ?
The relevant materials needed are objects with texture and cloth. Main materials are cotton/satin, to transfer the printing. And textured materials such as leaf, treads, crushed paper that could potentially create a design/pattern when ironed or hot pressed.
HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS TECHNIQUE?
In order to achieve dry transfer, using fabric crayons sketch or put the object under the paper and colour over. After finishing, put a layer of baking paper first, cloth (cotton/satin), designs drawn on paper facing the cloth, and followed by another layer of baking paper, at this point, we are ready to iron. Leaving the iron on top of it for about 10 seconds. For the indirect wet transfer, using paint, paint a layer of paint on to a piece of paper, letting it dry completely. With the same format, [baking paper, cloth, object/design on paper), baking paper], use the iron, or the hot press machine, allowing the designs to be transferred to the cloth.
WHAT ARE THE USES AND APPLICATIONS FOR THIS TECHNIQUE?
The uses and applications allow people to conveniently create new designs, and be printed on fabric to wear. Since It is personally designed and made, it would be something unique, showing individuality.

I thought that the techniques taught was really useful. As all the materials needed are easily obtained. With the materials easily obtained, you can try and design it as many times as you want. Trying out with different textured (flat) objects to obtain unique designs. And the best part, since the object is hand arranged, there is no identical design. These techniques can be used for creating unique gifts for our loved ones.
