What is printing with thermochromatic inks?
Using the method of silkscreening, this method screens thermochromic inks (heat sensitive ink that changes colour with the addition of heat and when it cools down, it reverts back to the original colour) onto the fabric, incorporating an element of surprise.
Materials needed:
Screen exposed with design
Squeegee
BETA TC Mani
Thermochromatic ink/powder
Plastic cups and ice-cream sticks for mixing
Mask (to prevent inhaling powder)
Fabric
How to do it:
Put on a mask before proceeding with the afore mentioned steps.
Mix 2-3 parts of Beta with a tablespoonful of thermochromic ink.
Mix thoroughly with an ice-cream stick.
Place the screen above your fabric.
Spread the mixture onto the screen.
Using the squeegee, apply pressure and screen the ink onto your fabric!
Reflection:
An element of surprise! A cool way to see materials respond to our touch. It gives us control over the result and can be applied to serve functions (indicating temperatures) or in novelty products as well.
