What is this technique?
It is the creation of fabrics through joining threads together into one piece.
Step 1: Cut the water-soluble sheet into the size you need
Step 2: Place threads and yarns in between 2 sheet of the water- soluble material
Step 3: Sew the around the boundary of the water-soluble sheet to ensure that when sewing the other threads they would be able to bind to the boundary.
Step 4: Sew the insides of the boundary in a tic-tac-toe pattern and make sure that it is fully secured.
Step 5: Wash the piece in water to dissolve the water-soluble film to revel the threads
Step 6: Dry it on a protruding surface to cast the shape of the surface. You can spray clear lacquer to set the shape of the threads.
Reflection:
Threads are very easily broken as a single strand but when we use this method, it strengthens the threads and binds them together allow it to form a surface or even a textile.
