What is this technique?
Fiber etching removes natural fibres from fabrics leaving synthetic fibres behind.
Step 1:Pour out the etching liquid onto the silk screen
Step 2: Print the design using a silk screen
Step 3: After drying for 24 hours, wash the velvet to reveal the etched design.
Reflections:
This method did not work for the velvet that we bought hence, the area with the etching liquid did not melt away.
