For the round smocking,
Step 1: Cut fabric into circles
Step 2: Sew the edge of the circle with a loose thread
Step 3: Push all the fabric to the start of the stitch to form a dumpling-shaped piece
Reflections:
Smocking is quite interesting as it creates patterns with merely a few stitches however, it is a pretty tedious process and i got confusing a few times while sewing halfway.

Elastic band:
I had a bit of trouble with this method as well. I was not sure how much I need to stretch the elastic band to created the dramatic crimp I wanted the fabric to have.
Elastic thread
The same problem occurred as the elastic band. I was not sure how tight to pull when loading the bobbin. My fabric did not end up as wavy as I wanted it to be.
