#1 First sketch of the concept
-
Issue: too troublesome to do on both arms.
Solution: Decided to stick to only our right arm
#2 Testing with the different materials
-
Materials tried: Nylon string, ropes, fishing line
Decided to go with fishing line as it is strong, sturdy, and light weight
#3 Updated our Sketch
Decided to focus on 1 arm
and reduced the focus of design to only the elbow joint (instead of focusing on the entire arm) later on.
#4 Used a luggage scale to test the force required to lift the arm
-
We measured the force needed to lift the arm (7.6kg) while carrying an object
In order to determine the appropriate motor capable of lifting that weight. -
#5 Moving on to the prototype
-
And with that, we decided to split our prototype into 3 sections:
Physical / Motor / Software aspects
which will be covered further in the next “Trial and Error” tab
