If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at making kimchi or any other fermented items, NTU’s SCBE Zymurgy Guild is the place to be! Specialising in anything fermentation related, the students at SCBE Zymurgy Guild uses this unique chemical process in a variety of recipes, from beer, cheese, to even natto.
Founded by a PhD student Daryl Lee and a third year SCBE student Chester Eio Hao Jie, SCBE Zymurgy Guild currently boasts close to 60 members from SCBE. The Guild serves as a place for students to come together and learn about fermentation and apply the technical skills taught in their courses. Supported by SCBE, the club is also equipped with a colourful and well-stocked pantry for its members to experiment on different recipes.
At the same time, the club also frequently shares their passion and knowledge with those outside of their circle, hosting curated workshops for students from Junior College and Polytechnic.

Joining SCBE Zymurgy Guild
You don’t have to be a chef to be part of SCBE Zymurgy Guild! Simply join the telegram group here and keep a lookout for their emails to be notified of their upcoming workshops. The workshops are open to all NTU students and materials used in the workshops are free for SCBE students. Note that you’ll be required to sign a form before you can start using the brewing pantry with your friends. There will be experienced students around to guide newcomers as well, so there is no need to worry about not knowing what you’re doing.
From the words of the club founder, Chester: “It’s all about exploring, so no need to worry about failure! Failure is always the first step to success!”
