Highlights from this year’s Virtual Freshmen Orientation Programme

This year’s FOP is no different. Even though it was held virtually, the student organising committees introduced many fun and interactive activities for freshies to interact with their fellow peers and seniors. They also gained valuable insights from the sharing sessions with faculty members and their seniors. Aside from the academic sharing, they were also introduced to the campus life, facilities and even the food choices that are available within the campus!

Breaking the Ice Online: Scavenger Hunt, Escape Room, Singing Challenges

We’ve all attended our fair share of online meetings and classes for the past two years. So, it is no surprise when most of the events and activities have been brought online too! As part of this year’s FOP, many school clubs held their ice-breaking games on Zoom. Some of the games were Scavenger Hunt (EEE), Food Hunt (EEE), Escape Room (MAE), SCBE Idol, Trivia Games (CEE) and many more that were conducted over Zoom.

Zoom PK games were played between different OGs so that freshies can meet their peers from other OGs. PK games were introduced to enhance the spirit of teamwork among the freshmen as they worked together as a group to complete the task given.

Aside from all the fun games played on Zoom, some of the schools also took it further by incorporating Minecraft into the FOP. This redefined the virtual FOP experience for the freshies as they got to experience and play games inside some of the EEE buildings virtually!

In the virtual Escape Room created in Minecraft, participants worked together to collect clues, solve exciting challenges, and fight monsters while avoiding the different obstacles along the way!

Built by the EEE Enitio 2021 tech team, the objective of this embedded web game was to introduce the freshies to NTU and EEE through searching for clues that contain information about EEE courses.  The participants then navigated through the obstacles to collect clues that helped them win the game.

In this virtual treasure hunt that spanned 3 days, participants worked together to find a treasure hidden within the virtual NTU Campus. The treasure hunt was conducted on Telegram where participants could interact with a Telegram bot to purchase hints using the Enition virtual coins and deduce the exact location of the treasure. The first two teams that found the correct location earned more Enition coins than the rest. Apart from locating the treasure in the game, participants could also explore the NTU campus virtually.
