OCBC – The Great Egg Cookout was a charity event under OCBC’s revamped corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Collaborating with Food From The Heart, the event is meant to kick off the regular distribution of 300,000 eggs to 2,500 needy families over the next 12 months. According to OCBC, The Great Egg Cookout gave the beneficiaries an opportunity to spend a day out as well as fulfil OCBC’s goal of creating a space where needy residents could come together to mingle.

“Previously, we primarily worked with the children, but we felt that the community has more needs as a whole,” said OCBC Bank’s group CEO  Samuel Tsien. As such, the bank’s new expanded CSR programme has been allotted a bigger budget and will extend its focus beyond vulnerable children and education to include other organisations that help the youth, the elderly, those with special needs, and environmental causes.
