Giving isn’t always easy, but their words of wisdom inspire us all to take action. Watch their stories and be inspired.

Featuring volunteer and organisation stories from:

 

    • Touch A Life – An international humanitarian organisation that embodies the principle of loving kindness to serve the world’s poor and displaced. It provides programs, projects and partnerships that help save lives, promote health and education, regardless of religious beliefs, gender, or ethnic background.

 

    • PAWSibility – It specialises in the use of techniques in Animal Assisted Therapy and Animal Assisted Play Therapy in conducting counselling and social emotional development programmes with children and adults. All of their sessions are helmed by a human counsellor together with the assistance of a professional therapy dog. The friendly therapy dogs are there to provide support as the client navigate through personal challenges, make sense of experiences and learn new social emotional skills.

 

    • Soundball Singapore – Soundball is tennis for the blind. The volunteers at Soundball Singapore aim to use Soundball to inspire the visually impaired to strive beyond their perceived limits. There are plans to promote further awareness of this sport, with a goal for it to be included in Paralympics 2024. Soundball SG is also part of Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) Sports Club.

 

    • Hagar Singapore –  The organisation restores to wholeness the lives of women and children in Afghanistan, Cambodia & Vietnam that have been torn apart by human rights abuse.

 

    • Dover Park Hospice – Hospice Care is a holistic approach to caring for patients going through the last stages of their lives. It aims to meet all needs (physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual) so as to alleviate suffering and maximise quality of life for patients and their loved ones. It has a current pool of 400 active volunteers who have been exemplary in devoting their time, energy and resources towards brightening up the lives of its patients.

 

    • Chapter W – A non-profit organisation in Singapore and Indonesia committed to using technology to empower women and making the world a better place. Their award-winning flagship program, Mothers of Light, puts women at the frontline in the fight against energy poverty.

 

    • Pangdemonium – A local theatre company with a mission to tell stories on the stage which are challenging, inspiring, relevant, accessible, and above all, of the highest artistic, entertainment and productions values, in a league with the very best of theatre internationally. From May to June 2016, Pangdemonium debuted a theatre production entitled “Falling” which explores autism, a neuro-developmental disorder characterised by impaired social interaction, impaired verbal and non-verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behaviour.

 

    • Clown Doctors Singapore – A charity that provides professionally trained medical clowns to local healthcare facilities, for their pediatric, geriatric and palliative care patients. Within their first year of operations, Clown Doctors Singapore already brought smiles to more than 15,000 patients, family members and hospital staff in 5  hospitals – namely Changi General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, KK Woman’s and Children’s Hospital, National University Hospital, and St Luke’s Hospital.
